Victor Vasarely (1906-1997) - Portfolio "cta 102" - Deluxe Gold & Silver Edition - Circa
Artist: Victor Vasarely
We are offering for sale a complete and exceptionally well-preserved copy of the famous "CTA-102" portfolio by the master of Kinetic Art, Victor Vasarely. Published in the early 1970s by Éditions du Griffon (Neuchâtel), this album is undoubtedly the most accomplished and valuable work in the artist's series of square albums. It pays homage to the quasar "CTA-102" (discovered in 1965) and perfectly embodies the Space Age aesthetic of the time. Lot composition: This portfolio is guaranteed complete and includes: The original slipcase: Gold/metallic cardboard sleeve titled "VASARELY - CTA-102". The booklet: Text pages and justification of the edition. The 10 Screenprinted Plates: The complete series of 10 works on heavy card stock. Technical Specification (Deluxe Edition): Unlike classic color editions, this series is distinguished by the use of gold and silver metallic inks on matte or glossy backgrounds. This complex printing technique allows the works to capture light and change their appearance depending on the viewing angle, offering unparalleled depth and brilliance ("Jewelry Effect"). Condition: "Museum" Condition (Mint Condition). This copy has been kept away from light and humidity for 50 years. Screenprints: Vibrant metallic colors, no oxidation or surface scratches. The blacks are deep. Support: Sharp corners (not creased), no folds. Our opinion: It is increasingly rare to find this complete portfolio, as most have been dispersed to sell the plates individually. Acquiring this intact set is an opportunity for a discerning collector or a design enthusiast wishing to own a centerpiece of the Kinetic movement.
