Note: This is an advertising project for the Spanish cigarettes PARIS, a brand for which many artists created posters, including Ramon CASAS, Aleardo VILLA, Francesc Xavier GOSÉ and Alfons MUCHA, for a poster competition organized in December 1900: the “Gran Concurso Universal de Carteles Cigarrillos París” (Paris Universal Cigar Poster Competition), whose first prize was awarded to Aleardo Vila. The competition was organized by the Catalan entrepreneur Manuel Malagrida Fontanet (Olot, 1864 – Barcelona, 1946). A major exhibition dedicated to the designs and posters from this competition recently closed at the Torreón de Lozoya in Segovia (September 19 to November 9, 2025).
