"Skeleton Dagger With Snake Head Engraved And Signed By H.caux Hesdin » Trench Cleaner 1914."
Rare World War I snake dagger produced by Henri Cauc in Hesdin, Northern France, from 1915 onwards; this particular example, judging by the engravings, was produced in 1917. It is an improved model, similar to knives of the time, featuring a snake's head on the end of the belt loop. The dagger is quite finely crafted, with the teeth and tongue still present in its capsule. The weapon originates from a Toulouse-based manufacturer. The piece has some surface oxidation spots and has been lightly cleaned to reveal the markings and signature near the guard. In good condition. France. World War I 1914-1918.
