"Stanislas Lepine (entourage) - Rue Saint Vincent Montmartre"
Stanislas Lépine (Circle of) Caen, 1835 – Paris, 1892 Rue Saint Vincent in Montmartre Oil on wood panel 39 x 27 cm (43 x 31 cm with frame) Mark of the canvas merchant Pignel Dupont on the back (active in Paris between 1885 and 1895) Very good condition Beautiful 19th-century painted wooden frame This same view of Rue Saint Vincent in Montmartre was found on an old postcard. Stanislas Lépine regularly painted the streets of Montmartre, particularly Rue des Saules and Rue Saint Vincent. Our painting shares similarities with the works of Stanislas Lépine, notably the highly drawn style and the very light touches of color. Perhaps Lépine is even more precise in his execution, in the drawing, and even lighter in his brushstrokes. This painting is unsigned.
