A very beautiful painting by the great painter Adolphe Louis Gaussen, born in 1871 and died in 1954, signed lower right. Oil on panel, measuring 24cm x 33cm, plus a quality period frame, depicting fishermen working on their boats in Marseille. Adolphe Gaussen studied painting under Jean-Baptiste Olive at the Marseille School of Fine Arts. He was appointed official painter of the Navy in 1928. He was curator of the Cantini Museum in Marseille. In 1946, he joined the Academy of Marseille. His works are featured in major museums, including the Musée d'Orsay. This painting can be considered one of the finest executed by the artist.
