Art Nouveau 18-carat gold ring adorned with two finely sculpted female faces on either side of a cabochon-cut tourmaline.
Female figures are a major motif in Art Nouveau jewellery: they embody the muse and the aesthetic ideals of the movement between 1890 and 1910.
The central cabochon tourmaline also reflects the gem choices of the period, as Art Nouveau artists favoured coloured stones, sometimes less traditional, for their soft hues and their ability to harmonise with sculptural goldwork.
Good condition, the tourmaline shows a few inclusions as well as a slight surface-reaching veil.
