Marble, 1st–2nd century AD.
Dimensions: approx. 9 × 7 cm.
Small sculpted marble fragment, likely belonging to an architectural decoration or a decorative element of furniture. The piece retains part of a vegetal motif in relief, composed of curvilinear forms and hollows indicating stylized leaves or a scroll. The volumes are now fragmentary, but the grooves and perforations suggest an original work in the round, either partially in relief or in high relief.
A small modern metal rod is inserted into the upper face for display purposes.
This piece, although fragmentary, offers insight into Roman decorative techniques and the use of marble for vegetal ornamentation characteristic of architecture and decorative sculpture between the 1st and 2nd centuries AD.
