"Pair Of Porcelain Busts By Samson"
A pair of polychrome porcelain busts of young girls in pretty pastel shades of pink, blue, and yellow, embellished with delicate gilding. They resemble each other but are not identical: the one with the more tilted head has a more delicate face. They are both dressed in bonnets, scarves, and dresses, but in different colors and patterns. The work is by Samson, who skillfully copied all the major manufacturers and is considered an artist in his own right; his copies sometimes surpass the originals. We have a fine example of his craftsmanship.
