"Backgammon Set, Complete With Chessboard, Pieces And Pawns, Also Known As Backgammon, Trictrac"
The backgammon set, dating from 1800, succeeded the backgammon game. This set is complete with its chess pieces in their box, and for the backgammon game, its 15 black and 15 white sycamore pieces, two dice, and two leather cups (one of which is missing). The outer surface features a marquetry checkerboard of black or light squares, and it also allows for playing English checkers with the same pieces as the backgammon set (on 64 squares instead of 100 like traditional checkers).
The box is made of solid stained beechwood, and the interior is lined with worn felt.
The pieces are 5 cm in diameter. The box measures 43 cm x 57 cm when open and 43 cm x 28.5 cm when closed, with a height of 12 cm.
