Magnificent small historicist box made in Germany, circa 1880. Oak wood, birch veneer with maple and ebony inlays on the edges. Large oval inlay with a beautiful shell motif and pyrography on the top of the lid. Ionized molding in the shape of eggs and arrows projecting from the lower edge. Oak interior with visible traces of previous fittings. Brass hinges and lock (replaced and functional). Restored condition with hand polishing using shellac.
