"Mahogany Travel Case – Late 19th Century"
This mahogany travel case dates from the late 19th century. The finely chiseled brass corner pieces and reinforcements protect the edges while adding an elegance that contrasts with the richness of the wood. The lid bears a round brass plaque engraved with a finely executed monogram, indicating personal ownership. It closes with a functional lock and key, ensuring the security of personal belongings. The inside of the lid is fitted with a mirror, like those found in naval officers' vanity cases. The bottom of the case is lacquered a deep green. Finally, a secret drawer, divided into compartments, allows for the organization of small accessories and jewelry. The latter is concealed beneath the opening and accessible by pressing a specific point inside the case. The whole piece exudes a perfect combination of functionality and refinement, typical of high-end travel cases produced in the 19th century. *******Period: Late 19th century.
