Alain Bonnec (born In 1952), The House With Rosebushes, 20th Century
Alain Bonnec is Daniel's brother, which is no small detail. These two brothers, born ten years apart in Malestroit, Brittany, have shared their painting career and studio since the 1980s. Alain, the elder, has a taste for grand family homes that evoke childhood memories. The gardens are English-style, the grounds always perfectly manicured, and life seems peaceful and untouched by the passage of time. The two brothers gained recognition early on thanks to critic Roger Bouillot, who praised their tender and childlike vision of idyllic landscapes, imbued with humor and fantastical elements. Official UNICEF artists and recipients of the Vernon Prize, the Bonnec brothers' work is now collected internationally, notably in Japan and the United States.
