A Heavy German Or Flemish Cabasset, Circa 1600
A heavy german or flemish cabasset.
Heavy, one-piece, heavily ridged skullcap with a small, backward-sloping point. The lower edge is encircled by brass lining rivets with decorative rosettes (some incomplete). Short brim with a rolled edge. An unidentified stamped mark is present on the brim, along with a hanging hole on the back of the brim. Surfaces slightly pitted. The original textile lining band is preserved inside. Height 20.5 cm.
