Sloping Desk, "donkey's Back" Secretary Desk
A charming small marquetry slant-front desk (rosewood and various other woods), curved at the front and sides. Late 19th century. It opens with a drop-front covered in red felt. The writing surface comprises drawers and a large secret compartment. It rests on four cabriole legs adorned with bronze mounts. The upper section is decorated with an openwork bronze gallery. Overall, in very good condition.
