A large octavo volume in blond calfskin, spine with raised bands, red morocco title, gilt edges, in a rich binding with a lace border, scattered fleurs-de-lis and Maltese crosses, stamped with the arms of "Georges d'Aubusson de La Feuillade", Archbishop of Metz. This copy in its rich binding is an important work of theology by Jacques Salian - Iacobi Saliani Avenionensis "De Timore Dei" libri novem, published in Paris by Jacob Cramoisy in 1629. This beautiful work in its splendid contemporary binding is a very rare book by Jacques Salian, a French Jesuit scholar, born in Avignon in 1557 and died in Paris in 1640. He taught theology and held the position of Rector of the College of Besançon. His principal work is: "Annales Ecclésiastici Vétéris Testamenti", published in 1619, it is an ecclesiastical chronicle retracing the history of the Old Testament.
