Pair Of Provençal Straw-seated Armchairs – Early 19th Century
A pair of early 19th-century Provençal armchairs, presented in their original condition, with their original rush seats and period polychromy. The backs are composed of four molded slats, the armrests are sinuous, and the rush covers and crossbars display attractive scalloped work, adorned in the center with a small carved shell. The cushions, made of silk and linen bourette, were produced in Nîmes in the early 20th century and harmonize beautifully with the color of the armchairs.
