Large pewter wine pitcher measuring one pint, with a shouldered shape, flared foot, straight-sided bowl, and acorn-shaped thumb rest.
Hallmark of Charles Delahaye, master in 1729: bird (peacock?) / FIN / C. DELA(HAYE).
Height: 27 cm
PONT-AUDEMER, Mid-18th century
In very good condition and of fine quality. This is the Lower Normandy type 1, known as the shouldered pitcher.
Pitchers from this origin are rarely clearly hallmarked.
This master is still recorded in Pont-Audemer in 1750, and in Le Havre in 1759, where he appears to have established himself or opened a second workshop.
