"Various Pairs Or Trios Of Wrought Iron Moustache Hinges From The 16th To The 19th Centuries"
Multiple pairs of mustache hinges from all periods, some very old (16th century), others 17th, many 18th, and also 19th century—here are a few examples… decorated with the migratory bird! Long neck, full crop, flight posture. In our southwest, a region of migration, the blacksmith who makes these hinges is none other than the farmer who has just sown his wheat and, at migration time, goes to the shelter of his forge to work for the winter. It's the first inspiration that naturally comes to mind. Each has his specialty: one a nail maker, another makes barrel hoops, a third cartwheels or locks, or even the agricultural tools he knows well.
