"Grenoble, The Old Wooden Bridge Around 1834. Alexandre Debelle (1805-1897)"
View of the Isère River at Grenoble, the old wooden bridge. Trace of a date at the bottom right corner. A very similar painting is in the Grenoble Museum, same subject, same dates, and same dimensions. Beautiful light, a work perfectly in keeping with the plein air landscape painting school of around 1830. Alexandre Joseph Michel François Debelle, born in Voreppe (Isère) on December 21, 1805, and died on July 22, 1897 (aged 91) in Grenoble, was a French painter, draftsman, and lithographer. WIKIPEDIA: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandre_Debelle. Oil on canvas mounted on cardboard, 19th century, good condition. Dimensions: 17 x 26.5 cm. Unsigned.
