Large Black Molded Glass Vase "bird Of Paradise" By Pierre d'Avesn (1901–1990)
A superb vase in finely molded and pressed black glass (very dark smoked glass) by Pierre d'Avesn, a student of René Lalique and a master glassmaker renowned for the power of his animal and plant motifs. This model, named "Bird of Paradise," features a high-relief design depicting large stylized birds amidst dense foliage. The molding work is of exceptional quality: generous volumes, contrasting textures, and exquisite detail, typical of d'Avesn's creations from the 1930s and 40s. A spectacular, decorative vase, quintessentially French Art Deco. Its presence and powerful form make it equally at home in a collection of fine glassware or in a contemporary interior.
