19th Century Bordallo Pinheiro Historical Canteen Gungunhana Zulu

Gungunhana was the last Emperor of the Gaza Empire, in the territory that is now Mozambique, and the last Monarch of the Jamine dynasty, of Zulu origin.

This canteen was produced by Bordallo Pinheiro to celebrate the defeat of Gungunhana.

Inscription on the back of the canteen (in Portuguese): "Viva o Exército e a armada, o Portugal Victorioso a 2 de Fevereiro de 1895 no combate de Marracuene, a 7 de Setembro no Magul, a 7 de Novembro em Coolella, a 11 de Novembro no Manjacaze, a 22 de Dezembro no Chaimite e prisão de Gungunhana."

Inscription on the back of the canteen (in English): "Long live the Army and the navy, the Victorious Portugal on February 2, 1895 in the battle of Marracuene, on September 7 in Magul, on November 7 in Coolella, on November 11 in Manjacaze, on December 22 in Chaimite and Gungunhana prison."
