Louis XVI Mahogany Stepped Desk - 18th Century. This elegant Louis XVI period stepped desk, crafted from mahogany and mahogany veneer, is of exceptional quality. The upper section opens with tambour doors, revealing two drawers and a central compartment. The top is adorned with an openwork brass gallery. The writing surface opens to reveal a large, leather-covered writing surface edged with gilt tooling. A large drawer on the front completes the ensemble. The desk rests on four turned and fluted legs, typical of the Louis XVI style. Beautiful proportions and superb, well-grained mahogany. Period: 18th century. 50 cm high when open.
