On the reverse, an old, partially deciphered handwritten label: "Jacques Vervloet born in Mechelen on July 18, 1756 (...) January 18, 1781 under the name of Gerard de St Elisabeth / convent (?) suppressed (?) by the French Revolution in 1793. Died in Brussels on February 2, 1841 / brother of Martin Rombaut and uncle of Jean and François. Painted by Jean Vervloet".
