It was during this time that he began painting the various districts of the capital, scenes of daily life in which he faithfully reproduced the architecture of the buildings and skillfully varied the effects of light according to the seasons and times of day. At the same time, he also distinguished himself with landscapes of Seine-et-Marne (including Fontainebleau), Normandy, the South of France, and Italy.
