Large engraving depicting the Battle of Eylau, based on a subject by Carl Vernet and engraved by J.J. Wolff. The engraving depicts the battle between the Russian army commanded by Levin von Bennigsen and the French Grande Armée under Napoleon Bonaparte in 1807, and is dedicated to the French cavalry general Jean Joseph Anse d'Hautpoul, who died there from serious wounds. The engraving is housed in a beautiful Empire-era gilded frame decorated with gold pastiglia. The work is signed in the lower right margin.
