Katzbalger Lansquenet Sword, 16th Century
Landsknecht Katzbalger Sword 16th Century
A rare German Landsknecht Katzbalger Sword battle used.
The hilt is in good condition, consisting of a set of twisted iron S shaped quillons with spiral balls at the end and a knuckle bow.
The guard also has a plate to protect the users hand.
The grip is wood with leather wrapping is in good condition. The pommel is a dome shaped and attaches to the knuckle bow.
The blade is a double edge and has several small fullers in the ricasso as well as small groves engraved.
The blade is marked, kindly refer to photos..
The over all condition is good but its obvious this was a heavily used during combat as is apparent from the stresses and wear of the iron and on the edge. This is a truly amazing piece in its original state and worthy of a museum collection.
