Wall-mounted Holy Water Font From The Napoleon III Period, Painted Limoges Porcelain, Virgin Mary, Gilded Bronze
Antique wall-mounted holy water font dating from the second half of the 19th century. Very pointed arch shape inspired by the Neo-Gothic style. Bronze body with a double patina of green and gold. In its center is a painted porcelain plaque depicting the Virgin Mary above a crescent moon. The Virgin Mary on a crescent moon symbolizes both the Immaculate Conception and purity triumphing over evil (night and darkness). The font measures 25cm x 9cm. Very good condition.
