The work, in excellent condition, is an oil painting on a wooden panel.
It is presented in a beautiful gilt and carved Barbizon-style frame measuring 60.5 cm by 77.5 cm, and 38 cm by 55 cm for the panel alone.
Signed in the lower left corner, it depicts the Quai des Baux seen from the Quai Barthélémy on the Port of Cassis, overlooked by Mont de la Saoupe, known locally as "Le Baou de la Saoupe," which connects the Couronne de Charlemagne to the famous cliffs of Cap Canaille.
A certain serenity and peaceful atmosphere emanate from this luminous and colorful work.
The artist was a marine and landscape painter active in Provence at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries.
The Cannes Museum holds his "View of Martigues" and the Cassis Museum "The Red Sails".
