Edouard Ducros (1856-1936) Provençal Landscape Animated By A Cart

The tranquility and charm of a Provençal landscape at the beginning of the 20th century by the artist Edouard Ducros who worked on the motif in the company of the Great Paul Cézanne.
A generous material applied by broad brushstrokes, a beautiful effect of shadow and light for this simple but authentic and reassuring subject, a beautiful testimony of an era now gone.
In good condition, the work is done in oil on cardboard, it is offered in a beautiful 19th century frame which measures 56 cm by 48 cm and 46 cm by 38 cm for the cardboard alone.
It is signed and dated 1921 lower right.

Edouard Ducros led a brilliant career as a lawyer, solicitor and then clerk at the Court of Appeal of Aix en Provence, but, at the age of 46, he abandoned his function and devoted himself to painting.
A student of Louis Gautier and Gagliardini, he exhibited at the Salon d'Artistes Français from 1911 to 1935.
In the provinces, he won prizes at Versailles, Lyon and Aix en Provence.
He is best known as the landscaper of the Etang de Berre.
An Impressionist, he is the founder of the Society of Friends of the Arts of Aix-en-Provence, his hometown, frequented in particular by Cézanne, with whom he painted the Montagne Sainte Victoire.

The Granet Museum has "a view of Martigues"
and the Digne Museum "the plowmen around Aix en Provence".
His works are held at the Museums of Aix, Montpellier, Digne and Béziers. His painting
The Grand Canal of Martigues was acquired by the city of Paris.
