Oil on panel in excellent condition depicting figures conversing on a forest path. Dimensions without frame: 47 cm x 36 cm. Overall dimensions with its magnificent original 19th-century frame in wood and gilt stucco: 74 cm x 63 cm. The work is signed and dated in red in the lower right corner: Henri Van Assche 1831. Henri Van Assche was a painter born in 1774 in Brussels and died in the same city in 1841. He painted animated landscapes. Well-documented, his work is featured in numerous museums, including those in Amsterdam, Bruges, Brussels, Ghent, Haarlem, Liège, and Lille.
