Polychrome Venetian Moor, Torchiere Holder, Early 20th Century, Electrified.
Polychrome wood sculpture, with its original mottling, of a particularly elegant Venetian Moor dating from the early 20th century.
This highly decorative piece was created according to the 18th-century tradition of the well-known Venetian light-bearing figures.
Venetian Moors carried a cornucopia equipped with candle holders, the number of which varied.
This particular sculpture is fitted with five electric lights at the top of the cornucopia, each with a new bulb and lampshade in a different color. The sculpture is in good condition, retaining the original mottling on the clothing. The electrical wiring:
-Completely rewired to current standards.
-For remote installation in a house or apartment, the long connecting electrical wire is free; it runs from the cornucopia and is equipped with a foot switch on the floor.
