Fireplace Screen And Its Gilt Bronze Barrier – Louis XV Style, Late 19th Century
Elegant Fire Screen and Matching Guard in Gilt Bronze – Louis XV Style, Late 19th Century. A superb fireplace set comprising a fire screen and matching guard, both crafted entirely from richly chased and gilt bronze. The screen features a flowing outline typical of the Rococo style, adorned with scrolls, foliate foliage, and delicate acanthus leaves. The center is decorated with a trelliswork floral motif, finely applied to a spark-proof wire mesh. The upper section displays a remarkable winged dragon sculpted in the round, a spectacular detail that testifies to the skill of Parisian bronze workers of the late 19th century. The guard, executed in the same decorative style, is embellished with finials, openwork scrolls, and symmetrical motifs, forming a harmonious and highly decorative ensemble. French work, late 19th century. Good overall condition; slight wear to the gilding and a warm patina.
