Chinese Export Porcelain Coffee Pot Robert Adam Silver Mounts, 18th Century Qianlong

Elegant Chinese export porcelain coffee pot, late 18th century (Qianlong period), fitted with fine silver mounts in the Robert Adam neoclassical style.

The tall tapering body is painted in famille-rose enamels with scattered flower sprigs and a frieze of delicate floral garlands below the rim, edged with a blue band. The spout is moulded and painted as a stylised orange flower bud, and the loop handle has small scroll terminals.

The domed cover is surmounted by a neoclassical urn finial in silver, standing on a gadrooned silver plate, and attached by light chains to silver mounts on the handle and spout in typical Adam taste. The spout and handle roots are also sheathed in silver, giving the piece a very refined Anglo-European appearance while preserving the earlier Chinese export body.

Height: about 30 cm in total.

Condition: Overall good condition for the age. Chip to the edge of the lid (see photographs).
