Manufactured in Locré Milk jug Hard porcelain painted and enhanced with gilding Dimensions: H. 18 (cm) Paris, circa 1810-1820 Part of a set of six cups and saucers (marked Locré Manufacture and TGC); a milk jug; a liter teapot and a sugar bowl with delicate decoration of leaf friezes and foliage in matte, burnished gold and dark green. Beautiful, high-quality workmanship, early 19th century. The T.G.C. Paris mark in iron red (not underglaze) on the cups is period but unidentified. It could be either one of the many anonymous white decorators who bought the models from Locré or a dealer who ordered this model directly from the Manufacture. The Locré factory, founded in 1771 by a craftsman from Germany, quickly became a center of excellence that lasted until 1830. Its products are recognizable by the blue mark under the glaze of two intertwined torches. Condition report: excellent condition, very minor signs of wear.
