Joseph van Severdonck, born in Brussels in 1819 and died in Schaerbeek in 1905, was a Belgian painter and draughtsman. He studied painting under Gustave Wappers. In 1865, he became a professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, where he taught the course "drawing from old models" and, from 1875, the course "painting from models." He participated in the Antwerp Salon in 1861 and the Ghent Salons in 1874. His works are held in the Army Museum in Brussels, the Church of Our Lady in Namur, and the Tournai Museum.
