This lithograph, “Parisian Landscapes - The Quai d'Austerlitz,” is signed Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp in the lower right corner. The work is authentic and antique. Regarding its condition, note some ink marks in the margin, slightly bumped corners, and minor creases. The lithograph is very fresh in color; once framed, most of the imperfections will be barely visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved on to intaglio engraving, specifically etching, in 1882. Simultaneously, in 1886, he embarked on a career as a director and set designer, creating shadow puppet shows at the Chat Noir cabaret, performances which he enhanced by designing highly innovative, colorful sets. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted approximately a thousand watercolors).
