"Oil On Canvas, Portrait, Woman Adorned With A Coral Necklace"
A very fine signed portrait of a woman. She is depicted as a woman of quality, wearing an elegant dress with a shimmering sheen, a lace-trimmed collar, and a three-strand coral bead necklace, with one earring visible on her left ear. Her brown hair is held up with a coral-adorned barrette. Her gaze reveals a woman of character and intelligence. The portrait is presented in a very fine giltwood frame with some minor imperfections, measuring 63 x 53 cm. Signature, probably "C. Mayer" (?) and date "1856" (?).
