Carved walnut panel signed OLIER
Motto: “More honor than honors.”
Jean-Baptiste OLIER, ornamental sculptor in Paris, active between 1890 and 1910. His pieces were often commissioned to decorate the pediments of private mansions, the offices of notaries, prefects, or local noble families, or as investiture gifts.
The Béthune family is the most likely to be associated with this coat of arms, due to their motto, but also because of the presence of black helmets and martlets in their arms.
This coat of arms could be a symbol of alliance between the Béthune family and another family, or an artistic reproduction inspired by their arms dating from the 19th century (1870) to the early 20th century (1930).
