Louis XV Period Chest Of Drawers Stamped Lebrund
A beautiful commode in olive and amaranth marquetry. Curved on the front and sides, it opens with three drawers. The two lower drawers have locks. The front uprights are shaped and pinched. The lower rail is serpentine, and the feet are cabriole. The drawer pulls, keyhole escutcheons, and sabots are in gilt bronze. The top is of veined white marble. The frame is made of softwood. It bears the stamp: "Lebrund, Privileged of the King." Beautiful proportions, rare signature. Circa 1750. Height 90 cm, width 132 cm, depth 64 cm. Delivery possible. Jean-Baptiste Lebrund, also known as Jean-Baptiste Topino, was a cabinetmaker and merchant privileged to the King, established in Marseille on Rue Saint-Ferréol. He was the brother of the master Charles Topino. Very few pieces of furniture by this craftsman are known.
