"Gilded And Polychrome Wooden Base, 17th Century"
The base is sculpted into paw-like feet. It features high-relief winged cherub heads, finely carved scrolls and floral motifs, and is constructed of wood covered in a deep red polychrome, allowing it to be gilded. This type of pedestal was frequently used in Baroque churches to display statues, reliquaries, or tabernacles.
