A superb antique bronze sculpture depicting two hunting dogs, created by the renowned French animal sculptor Alfred Dubucand (1828-1894) and dating from around 1880.
The sculpture represents two hunting dogs in action, mounted and raised on an oval cast bronze base with a scalloped bottom. Both dogs have their tails raised, one sniffing the ground while the other looks ahead.
The detail is excellent, and the movement possesses a natural realism that for which Dubucand was famous.
The bronze also displays a magnificent patina of age and is signed A. Dubucand.
