The victorious entry of Alexander the Great into Babylon is part of the series that Louis XIV
commissioned from Charles Le Brun to exalt the glory of the Sun King. Originally conceived
to furnish one of the royal residences, this decoration was never executed.
This tapestry enjoyed great success throughout Europe, notably thanks to the engravings of Gérard Edelinck.
