In keeping with tradition, this magnificent tapestry has undergone a thorough cleaning and meticulous inspection by our experts at the Galerie Lissier's artisan workshop. It is now ready to grace your home. Jean Van Noten, born on June 1, 1903, entered the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts in 1919. In 1949, he was sent to the United States by the Belgian government as an artistic advisor for the New York World's Fair. He remained there for ten years, developing his expertise in drawing, decorative composition, and textile art. From the 1940s onward, Jean Van Noten received his first major commissions in Belgium. His talent for precise lines and balanced compositions naturally led him to tapestry, a field in which he excelled. Over the decades, he designed numerous cartoons and textile creations, characterized by great graphic finesse and a remarkable sense of color. His international work, as a painter and tapestry designer, testifies to a rich and varied output, now sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of textile art. It can be said that numerous decorative pieces bear Jean Van Noten's signature, a testament to the breadth of his work and his artistic recognition. Jean Van Noten passed away on October 8, 1982, leaving behind a significant legacy in the world of tapestry and decorative arts.
