A rare early 19th-century Neoclassical table bust in carved Carrara white marble, presented on a pedestal of various marbles and beaded inlay, by Denis Foyatier, a sculptor specializing in this style. This moving early work depicts Apollo in bust form on its pedestal, itself presented on a base adorned with marbles and beaded inlay, and a delicate stucco medallion representing an ephebe. This beautiful library piece is a curiosity, dating from the very beginning of the 19th century (1808) and signed on the back "D. Foyatier".
