Large pewter wine pitcher with a shouldered shape, sloping plinth foot, straight-sided bowl, and a small thumb rest.
Marks:
1° - Gauge mark on the inside base according to the Saint-Denis standard: large fleur-de-lis / ST.D
2° - Mark of Pierre de Cossard, master craftsman before 1658: crowned hammer / P / PDC
3° - Gauge mark: crowned and palmate arms of France, intentionally defaced during the French Revolution.
Height: 27.1 cm.
PARIS, Second half of the 17th century, before 1689.
Rare and early example of the period, this Saint-Denis "Pinte" pitcher holds 1.45 liters.
In good used condition. Numerous small impacts and scratches are noted, and a nearly invisible repair was previously carried out at the junction of the lid and its tab.
