Carved and Gilded Wood Mirror from the Louis XVI Period, Circa 1780. A sublime carved, lacquered, and gilded wood mirror from the Louis XVI period. This carved wood mirror features a pediment adorned with a basket of flowers, surrounded by leafy garlands cascading down on either side, against a blue-gray lacquered background. Its rectangular frame is decorated with twisted ribbons, acanthus leaves and florets, as well as rosettes. The beveled glass was added in the 19th century. Beautiful patina and gilding. A piece of fine craftsmanship with elegant and refined lines.
