Viennese Imperial Retour d’Égypte commode, made of mahogany, ebony and gilded bronzes.
The fine carved giltwood and partly bronzed caryatids are shown in form of Egyptian temple servants, carrying papyrus rolls.

The commode, with its characteristics appearance pays reference, to the famous Egyptian cabinet at the royal palace of Vienna. This room, with its opulent wooden wall panels and furniture, was installed in 1810 for Empress Maria Ludovica (1787-1816) and it is currently preserved at the Möbelmuseum Wien.
