An Angel Playing the Mandolin, 17th Century. After the fresco by Melozzo da Forlì (1438-1494). Large oil on panel, work by an early Italian master of the 17th/18th century depicting an angel playing the mandolin. A devotional work of excellent quality and in very good condition, inspired by the early Renaissance fresco of musical angels in the Basilica of Saint Apostle in Rome, painted by Da Forlì. Presented in a gilt and wood-framed frame with undulating moldings. Slight deformation of the panel, reinforced by a strip of wood on the back. Dimensions: approximately 86 x 71 cm (framed).
