Epinal Plate With A Rooster - Late 18th, Early 19th Century
Epinal plate - Late 18th - Early 19th century. A high-fired plate with decoration characteristic of Epinal plates. The rim features 65 gadroons and characteristic colors. Decorated with a rooster at a fence resting on a grassy mound. The rim is decorated with three bouquets. A rare model: the rooster faces right but its head is turned left, with blue flowers and the three commas on the rim. This plate is reproduced in the reference book. Good condition. Note one hairline crack and a chip at the crack, which has been repaired. Diameter 22.8 cm.
