Castle Lock, 18th Century
Important hand-forged lock. The interior features finely chased and engraved metalwork, with two keys, one of which is original. The fine chasing is authentic and period-appropriate. It has an exterior latch and a sliding bolt that engages in the strike plate. Likely a work of mastery with excellent execution, especially considering that the lock's internal workings remain invisible once installed. 18th century.
